How is an artists' village made? What are the elements of an artists' village? First the artists, and second a space for the artists. In an existing old industrial district, the existing concrete structure is transformed into an artists' residential community complex, further regenerating a new artists' community. The ground floor is opened up as an exhibition area, with the upper floors serving as a gallery, living quarters and studios. From a courtyard on one floor grows a core connecting the four sides, and a new facade covers the original frame, bursting forth. Each part is attached to the existing frame yet also breaks free of it, binding and blending the elements of exhibition, living, working, artists and visitors, sparking a distinctive vitality.
